Balance

Earlier this evening, I attended the University of Oregon's annual Take Back The Night rally. During the fairly compelling keynote, I found myself distracted by a group of four girlfriends sitting next to me, each on their iPhone or suchlike device, one texting, one checking email, one playing Tetris, and the last too far away to tell.

Later in the evening, Junot Diaz reassured a 600+ audience that although all was not well in the world, plenty of people, including his hispanohablante unconscious, are furiously giving a shit, breaking rules and taking unpronounceable names.
